Nano Protein Straight is one of our most requested chemical services — here's what the process actually involves, and how it's different from our other straightening options.
What is Nano Protein Straight, exactly?
It's a protein-based permanent straightening treatment. Instead of using a strong relaxant to break the hair's internal disulfide bonds (the way traditional rebonding does), it rebuilds and re-bonds the hair's protein structure into a straight pattern. The result is pin-straight, frizz-free hair with less structural stress on the hair shaft than a harsher relaxant-based process.
How is it different from Rebond Xtenso?
Both deliver permanent, pin-straight results, but through different chemistry — Rebond Xtenso breaks bonds with a relaxant then reforms them straight, while Nano Protein Straight works by infusing and heat-sealing protein into the shaft. In practice, Nano Protein Straight tends to leave hair feeling smoother and less "flat" than a heavy rebond, but Rebond Xtenso can be the stronger option for very coarse or resistant curl patterns. How long does it take?
Depending on your hair length and condition, sessions run 3 to 4 hours, split between active styling time and a passive processing (heat-sealing) window. We block enough calendar time up front so there's no rush.
How do I prepare before my appointment?
- ›Come with unwashed hair (1-2 days) — natural scalp oils protect the skin during processing
- ›Avoid coloring your hair within 2 weeks before or after this service, since combining two chemical processes too close together increases breakage risk
What happens during the service?
1. Consultation — your stylist assesses hair condition, porosity, and current length to confirm timing
2. Application — a protein-infused straightening formula is applied strand by strand for even coverage
3. Heat-sealing — controlled heat locks the protein into the hair shaft in its new straight pattern
4. Finish — a finishing rinse and blowdry complete the look
Why isn't the price listed online?
Because the exact formulation quantity and timing depends on your hair's current length, density, and condition, our team confirms your exact quote during consultation before the service begins — the same way a fitted garment gets measured before it's priced.
